1. Why We Built DPI Analyzer
Checking a mouse setting usually means installing device software or comparing cursor movement by eye.
We created Mouse DPI Analyzer as a simple, zero-download way to check a mouse's reported movement against a physical distance.
2. Core Engineering Principles
Local Measurement
Pointer events, trajectory calculations, and saved test history stay in your browser; the application does not upload them to a measurement backend.
Relative Browser Input
Pointer Lock lets the page receive relative movement while the test is active. The browser and operating system still determine how that input is reported.
Visible Mathematics
The measurement and conversion formulas are shown in the guides so a result can be interpreted without a hidden correction factor.
Clear Scope
The result is intended for checking and comparing a setup; it is not a hardware certification or a promise of identical behavior on every browser.
3. Technical Verification & Standards
The method is compatible with browsers that support Pointer Lock and report relative mouse movement. It cannot identify a sensor's true factory calibration, remove every operating-system transformation, or replace controlled laboratory equipment. For a more reliable comparison, use the same surface, distance, and movement technique across repeated runs.
4. Verification status
Software validation covers unit conversion, cancelled runs, three-run medians, invalid inputs and sensitivity conversion. Physical accuracy comparisons with known mouse DPI settings on Windows and macOS are still pending. We have not published a certified browser or hardware accuracy range.
The current method deliberately uses standard Pointer Lock. It may include operating-system pointer adjustments. Keep your environment fixed while comparing runs, and follow the troubleshooting steps when results differ.
